Katherine Ann: 7 Months

My Dearest Katherine Ann,

Today marks 7 months of you! Each month seems to go faster than the last. This month was filled with family trips and pumpkin pics.

Month 7 brought many new changes to your little life. Your giggles continue to be contagious and your smiles are forever sweet. I love our laughing spells each day going back and forth giggling over our silly faces. Your newest talent is vibrating your lips together. It makes an adorable sound and we find ourselves making the sound right back. If only we knew what you were trying to say :) You have started to eat solids, but it doesn't seem to be your favorite thing. The bananas and sweet potatoes are tolerable, but you really don't like apples, peaches, or green beans...they kinda make you shiver and crinkle up your nose. If we try to give you these foods, you press your lips tightly together and we get greeted by a frustrated grunt. The biggest change this month involves your movement. You are trying so hard to crawl and you love sitting.

Your new favorite toys seem to be your soft books from Grandma Walker. You love turning the pages and looking at the colorful pictures. I hope you learn to find joy in books. The stackable toys come in at a close second to your books. Although you can't stack the rings yet, they make wonderful chew toys. You still love your jumper and discover more of the toys each day. We also discovered your love for swings!

This month we continued to watch our Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday and we take great joy in dressing you up for the games. You also got to spend lots of time with your Grandma and Grandpa Kreger. We visited the Alamo, met Big Tex at the State Fair, picked pumpkins, and took lots of pictures. It was so fun to see you share all your new little baby skills with them and make treasured memories together. You also got to meet Max Lucado!

It truly is such a privilege to take care of you each day and I couldn't imagine doing anything else. Katherine Ann, you fill our lives with pure joy, which is fitting since your name means pure. We love you so much and pray each day for your little heart to belong to Jesus.

We love you!

River Boats, Big Tex, and Pumpkins

Time with my parents is always a gift especially now that I have a daughter. Their latest trip to Dallas was extra special as they are both officially retired. We only had a week, but we packed it full of fun activities and adventures. The week kicked off with a trip to San Antonio where we enjoyed yummy food, a boat cruise along the river, and a tour of the quintessential icon of San Antonio...the Alamo!

Helping Grammy decide where we should each lunch!

Any trip to Texas in October would not be complete without a visit to Big Tex at the State Fair. Michael and I talk about the Fletcher Corny Dogs and Lemonade Skake-Ups all year...no joke! I am sure it comes up in conversation at least once a month. We also look forward to trying the new and best fried desserts. This year I tried the Fried Reese's Peanut Buttercup with Blue Bell Ice Cream...worth every cent. Our good friend and experienced fair goer was able to join us making the day even sweeter.

Dad tried the Fried Shrimp Boil for Uncle Joe!

We ended the week with a trip to the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch. I loved seeing my dad pick out Katie's first pumpkin. It is just the right size and she seems to like it! Of course we had to take some cute pumpkin pictures. Katie was enamored by all the little kids and colorful pumpkins.

She sat on her first red tractor. Grandpa Van Grouw would be proud!

Katie provided daily entertainment with her smiles, giggles, and mouth noises. I love seeing my parents fall more in love with her each time they visit. Thank you mom and dad for making your long trips to Texas and creating forever memories.
