Isn't that Pinteresting?

I don't know about you, but I have Pinterest boards full of 'Pinteresting' things I want to cook or create.  Yet most of them just sit there looking cute.  So my goal is to get better at actually using the interesting things I pin and hopefully share some great finds.

I thought I should start with a Pinterest Yay!  Since we make our home in an apartment, we are limited with appliance choices and quality.  In our new apartment we have been happy with our appliances so far...except the garbage disposal.  It works ok, but has carried a smell since we arrived.  While waiting for our maintenance request to be filled, I decided to search Pinterest for any garbage disposal smell solutions.

The one I thought was the most interesting also looked the prettiest. It is composed of just three simple ingredients: limes, lemons, and vinegar.  Before making these cubes, I looked in the store to see if they had garbage disposal cleaners and at what price.  I found garbage disposal cleaning marbles, but they were more expensive then what it would take to make my own.  So my Pinteresting Project began.  Here is the link for the original website:

First, you cut up the limes and lemons (I used 4 lemons and 4 limes).  Then divide them out between the cupcake pan.

Once each cupcake holder is filled, pour vinegar almost to the top of each cup.  Then place the pan in the freezer for an hour or two.

When finished, you will have pretty looking disposal tablets. Make sure your family members don't think they are a snack!

The tablets pop out easily and store best in the freezer.  I put my tablets in ziplock baggies to help conceal the vinegar smell.  When you are ready to use, just run warm water and dump a little baking soda down the disposal.  Finally, drop in a tablet and let it work its magic.  I noticed a difference very quickly...and it smells fresh!

I loved this idea because it was as simple and easy as it claimed to be. It was also budget friendly and super fun to make.  Since I had vinegar and baking soda at home, the whole project was just the cost of the lemons and limes...about $1.60...and it made 12 tablets.

I hope these will work for you.  I will be making more once I run out!!
